ASUP and COEASU Strikes: Education Ministers meets governing councils of Federal Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Kaduna on thursday

Following the positive outcome of negotiation with leaders of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU, the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike will meet with governing councils of Federal Polytechnics and Colleges of Education to fine tune details to re-open the schools affected by strike.
The Minister will meet the governing councils alongside the Executive Secretaries of National Board of Technical Education, NBTE, and National Commission for Colleges of Education, NCCE.
Already, COEASU has agreed to the two installmental payment offered by the Federal Government, which has led to the commencement of necessary payment procedures, Scan News has learnt.
It was gathered that the meeting will discuss the modalities for re-opening of the Federal Polytechnics for lectures.
The Rectors of the respective Polytechnics are to comply with the directives of the governing councils on the resumption of the schools.
Already, branches of ASUP, especially in the north are meeting to pull out of the on-going strike.
It was learnt that the decision is line with the resolution reached at the last ASUP National Executive council meeting in Yandev, Benue State.
